FAQ

Pano Mapper is a free tool that generates geolocated 360° panorama images from a 360° video and its corresponding GPX track file.

The extracted images include GPS coordinates, heading, and navigation connections — ready to publish to Google Street View or use in a virtual tour.

You need two files:

  • 360° Video: An equirectangular MP4 file (2:1 aspect ratio recommended).
  • GPX File: A standard GPX file with trackpoints containing latitude and longitude. Timestamps and elevation are optional but improve accuracy.

If your recording covers a single floor, choose “Single floor” and the entire video duration is treated as one level.

For multi-story captures, choose “Multiple floors” and use the visual timeline to drag handles that define separate time ranges for each floor. Each floor gets a unique color on the map and is exported as a separate level.

The spacing value (2–100 meters, default 5 m) controls how far apart the generated panorama images are placed along the route.

Smaller spacing produces more images with finer coverage; larger spacing produces fewer images. The tool shows an estimated node count before you generate.

Connections are created automatically. Within each floor, consecutive nodes are linked sequentially.

Across floors, the last node of one floor is connected to the first node of the next floor when they are within 20 meters of each other. You can also add or remove individual nodes manually; connections are rewired automatically.

If your camera and GPS logger started recording at slightly different times, the time offset lets you shift the alignment in seconds so every extracted frame lands at the correct map coordinate.

The red dot on the map updates in real time as you adjust the offset value.

There are two export paths:

  • Street View Publisher: Send images with GPS, connections, and floor levels to PanoCool’s Street View Publisher for direct publishing to Google Maps. Free, no login required.
  • Create Virtual Tour: Create a full project in PanoCool’s editor with all scenes, GPS metadata, and the Street View Arrows add-on pre-configured. Requires a paid plan.
