PanoCool Retouch

PanoCool Retouch is a web-based photo editor for both 360° photos (also called sphere photos or panoramas) and normal photos (also called flat photos). It works on any device, requires no installation, and is free to start using.

This page covers editing photos, blurring, overlays, AI retouching, AI edit modes, saving the edited photo with Export, generating 3D Gaussian splats, batch changes, presets, saved AI prompts, and selectively erasing an AI edit.

Blur faces, license plates, or anything else private. Blurring is free.

1. Open PanoCool Retouch at https://pano.cool/pano-editor and load the photo.
2. Click Blur in the toolbar on the left of the photo.
3. Paint over the area with the brush. Set Brush Size and Blur Intensity with the sliders in the panel at the bottom.
4. Click Apply Blur, or Cancel to leave the photo as it was.
5. Click Export at the top right to save the photo. See Export.

An AI edit changes one part of the photo from a written prompt: remove a tripod, people, or an object, add something, or fix colors.

1. Open the photo in PanoCool Retouch and turn the view so the area is on screen.
2. Click AI edit in the toolbar on the left, then drag a box over the area. Drag the edges of the box to adjust it.
3. Describe the change in the prompt box. The list icon above it (Saved prompts) has ready-made prompts such as Remove tripod and Remove people; Use fills one in.
4. Click Make it!. The mode next to the prompt sets the cost: see AI edit modes.
5. Check the result. The undo button next to How was the result? takes the edit back, and the eraser button at the top right brushes parts of it away (see AI Edit Eraser).

• AI edits need a signed-in account with enough AI edits. The Cool plan includes 80 AI edits a month and Super Cool 400; AI edit packs add more. See the pricing section of the PanoCool Knowledge Base.
• An edit is only charged when it succeeds.

1. Open the 360° photo in PanoCool Retouch and look straight down, so the tripod is on screen.
2. Click AI edit and drag a box over the tripod.
3. Click the list icon (Saved prompts) above the prompt box, then Use next to Remove tripod. It fills in “Remove the tripod, keep the same floor” and switches to the Normal mode, which costs 1 AI edit.
4. Click Make it!. If Normal misses, undo and try the Fast or Pro mode.

To give other photos of a room the same result as an AI edit in one photo, such as the same new bed cover, use a reference image. It shows the AI what to add or match, such as a bed cover, a sofa or a floor.

1. Get a picture of what to match, such as a screenshot of the bed in the first photo after its AI edit, or a product photo.
2. Open the next photo of the room, click AI edit and drag a box over the same thing, such as the bed.
3. Click the photo button next to the mode button (Add reference images) and choose the picture. You can also drop images on the prompt box, or paste a copied screenshot into it.
4. Describe the change, such as “Put the bed cover from the reference image on this bed”, then click Make it!.
5. Do the same in each photo of the room.

• Reference images work on 360° photos and need the Cool or Super Cool plan. Each edit takes up to 4, of up to 10 MB each (JPEG, PNG or WebP). They cost nothing extra: the edit costs what its mode costs.
• Each AI edit is made anew, so small differences between photos can remain. Undo and try again, or try the Fast or Pro mode.
• Batch Sync puts an AI edit at the same place in every photo, so it only fits photos taken from the same spot. For photos taken elsewhere in the room, use a reference image.

To save or download a photo from PanoCool Retouch, use Export. It saves the photo to your device with every edit in it: blur, AI edits, and text, icon and image overlays. Export is free, needs no sign-in and adds no watermark. PanoCool Retouch has no Share menu: Share › Download photo and Share › Snapshot are in the Virtual Tour Studio editor.

PanoCool Retouch doesn’t keep your photos or edits, even when you’re signed in. They stay in the browser tab and are gone once you close or reload it, so export before you leave. To carry on another day, open the exported photo in PanoCool Retouch again; the earlier edits are part of the photo by then, so they can’t be undone one by one.

1. Click Export at the top right of the editor.
2. Wait while Exporting… shows.
3. Save the file:
   • A 360° photo on a computer downloads straight away.
   • A flat photo: Export Complete! opens. Click Download.
   • A 360° photo on a phone or tablet: Export Complete! opens. Tap Download, or on an iPhone or iPad tap Share, then Save Image, to put it straight into Photos.

• The file: the original name with _exported added, such as kitchen_exported.jpg, at the photo’s full size. A 360° photo is saved as a JPEG when the original is a JPEG, and as a PNG otherwise; a flat photo keeps its format (JPEG, PNG or WebP).
• Photo details: a JPEG keeps the original’s EXIF details, such as the camera and location. A 360° JPEG also gets the 360° details that Facebook and other sites need to show it as a 360° photo.
• Several open photos: see Export all open photos as a ZIP.
• This photo’s changes on more photos: to put the same logo, text or other changes on photos from your device, use Batch Sync.
• A scene in a virtual tour: in the Virtual Tour Studio editor, Retouch Pano in the scene’s menu edits the scene’s photo, and its Save button puts the result back in the tour. See Scene Menu.

To save every photo you have open at once, each with its own edits:

1. Open the photos: up to 15 at once, each in its own tab.
2. Click the arrow next to Export (More export options), then Export All as ZIP. It shows when two or more photos are open.
3. The ZIP downloads with every open photo under its original file name. Photos without edits go into it as they are.

• Add text and icons.
• Add image overlays.
• Adjust 3D rotation (tilt, turn, and roll) for text, image, and icon overlays so they sit naturally on walls, floors, and other surfaces.
• Export high-quality 360° images, including 3D-rotated overlays baked into the result.
• Choose from more than 100,000 free icons.

Every AI edit runs in one of three modes. Normal is the everyday engine; Fast and Pro follow awkward prompts more closely and are worth reaching for once Normal has had a try or two.

1. Select an area of the photo to open the AI edit box.
2. Click the mode button next to the reference image button. It shows the current mode.
3. Drag the slider to Normal, Fast, or Pro, or click a mode name under it. The panel shows what that mode is for and what it costs.
4. Type the prompt and click Make it!. The button shows the cost whenever the edit costs more than one AI edit.

• The selected mode stays in place for the edits that follow, until it is changed again.
• AI edits are only charged when an edit succeeds. A failed or blocked edit costs nothing.
• A Normal edit of a very large area costs 2 AI edits and comes back at a higher resolution. That means about 6 megapixels or more: for example half of a 12-megapixel photo, or a wide selection in a panorama about 14,000 pixels across or larger. The Make it! button shows the 2 AI edits before the edit runs.
• Reference images, saved prompts, and the AI Edit Eraser work the same way in every mode.

3D Rotation adjusts how an overlay sits on the sphere. Use it to make text, an image, or an icon look painted onto a wall, floor, ceiling, or other surface instead of floating flat in front of the camera.

When a supported overlay is selected, a floating 3D Rotation panel appears with three sliders:

• Tilt (X): Tips the overlay forward or backward.
• Turn (Y): Yaws the overlay left or right.
• Roll (Z): Spins the overlay in place.

Each axis ranges from −180° to 180°. The user can drag a slider, type an exact value, reset one axis, or reset all axes.

Changes appear live in the viewer. Undo and redo restore previous rotation values. The controls work on desktop and mobile. On small screens, the panel sits above the bottom toolbar and can be collapsed while the overlay is repositioned.

1. Open PanoCool Retouch and load a 360° photo.
2. Add or select a text, image, or icon overlay.
3. In the 3D Rotation panel, adjust Tilt, Turn, and Roll until the overlay matches the surface.
4. Click Export to save the panorama. See Export.

PanoCool Retouch can turn a panorama or normal photo into a hyper-realistic 3D scene that users can walk through and explore from different angles. Gaussian Splatting reconstructs the view from millions of small, fuzzy, translucent blobs of color rather than rigid hard-surface geometry, preserving realistic lighting and reflections while running smoothly on a regular laptop or smartphone.

Multi-image generation is available only for flat photos. When multiple flat photos are open in the editor, PanoCool prompts the user to optionally include other open flat photos, up to a maximum of four, to improve 3D reconstruction.

• Output format: SPZ (compressed Gaussian Splat).
• Viewer: The generated result opens in an interactive 3D viewer in the browser.
• Cost: 80 AI edits per generation.
• Requirements: The user must be logged in and have enough AI edits.

1. Open PanoCool Retouch and load the photo or photos.
2. Click the Menu button at the top left of the editor toolbar.
3. Click Generate 3D Model. An information modal explains the feature and shows before-and-after examples.
4. Click Generate to confirm and start AI generation. Generation typically takes 1–3 minutes.
5. When generation finishes, the 3D model opens in a full-screen interactive viewer with orbit controls.

From the 3D viewer, the user can:

• Download the .spz file.
• Upload the 3D model to PanoCool Virtual Tour Studio for sharing and embedding.

PanoCool doesn’t disclose how 3D generation works beyond what this page describes.

Batch Sync copies the current changes to the same place in multiple other images. It is useful for repeating changes such as adding a logo or text across several images. It can’t repeat an AI edit on the same object in other photos of a room, such as a new bed cover on the same bed, because the object sits somewhere else in each photo: use reference images for that.

Batch Sync works on photos you choose from your device, not on the photos already open. To save the open photos, each with its own edits, use Export all open photos as a ZIP.

1. Make the changes on one 360° photo, such as adding a logo or text.
2. Click the arrow next to Export (More export options), then Batch Sync.
3. Choose the other photos: 360° JPEG photos with a 2:1 shape; other files are left out. Tick Exclude AI edits when applying to copy every change except AI edits.
4. Click Process and stay on the screen until every file is done.
5. Click Download ZIP, or Download next to one photo.

Process one-by-one, instead of Process, opens each chosen photo in its own tab with the changes on it, to adjust each one before you export it.

Presets let users save changes and reuse them. This feature is available on the Cool plan only.

Saved AI Prompts let users save frequently used AI editing prompts for quick reuse. The feature is available on the Cool and Super Cool plans only.

While editing with AI, click the bookmark icon next to the Make it! button. A popover appears with a prompt name, automatically filled from the first 40 characters of the prompt, and the full prompt text. Edit either field if needed, then click Save.

• Click the list icon above the prompt textarea to open the Saved Prompts modal.
• The modal shows the user’s saved prompts and built-in prompts such as Remove tripod, Remove people, and Fix overexposure windows.
• Click Use on any saved or built-in prompt to fill the AI edit textarea immediately.

Hover over a saved prompt in the list, then click the trash icon. Built-in prompts cannot be deleted.

• Maximum 50 saved prompts per user.
• Prompt name: up to 100 characters.
• Prompt text: up to 2,000 characters.
• Saved prompts are stored locally for immediate access and synced to the cloud so they persist across devices.
• A set of common built-in prompts is always available at the bottom of the list.

AI Edit Eraser lets the user selectively erase parts of the latest AI edit with a brush, revealing the original photo underneath.

The eraser is available only when the latest edit is an AI edit.

1. Click the Eraser button in the top-right toolbar.
2. Draw directly on the photo with the brush to erase parts of the AI edit.
3. Adjust Brush Size, Opacity, and Feather (hardness or softness) with the sliders in the control panel.
4. Click Done to save the changes, or Cancel to discard them.
