Change your username
How to: go to https://pano.cool/account and edit Username, then click Save. A username can use letters, numbers, dashes, underscores and dots, with at least one letter or number. It can’t contain PanoCool’s name (in any spelling, such as pano.cool or pano_cool) or be a reserved word such as admin or support. Usernames are first come, first served.
Your username is part of your tour links (pano.cool/@{username}/{project-slug}) and of your portfolio page (pano.cool/@{username}). PanoCool doesn’t redirect an old username, so when you change it:
- Links with the old username stop working and show a “not found” page. That includes the links in embed codes, QR codes and Snapshot photos made before the change. Some old links can keep opening for up to a week, then stop.
- Your old username becomes free, so someone else could take it.
- Links by project ID (
pano.cool/p/{project-id}), white-label domain links and custom domains don’t use your username, so they keep working. - Share gives links with the new username from then on.
To keep the old links working:
- Add the old username as a user alias (
Super Cool): under Username, click Add aliases (or Manage aliases) and enter it. Its links work again, with any mix of capital letters. Aliases follow the username rule, so this works for nearly every old username; the exceptions are one with another character, such as a+, and one that contains PanoCool’s name. - Or change the username back. This works on any plan, as long as nobody else has taken the old username: links with it work again. On
Super Cool, you can still share under the new name: add the new username as a user alias, then in Share › View links star its link (Make this your default link format).
Otherwise, replace the old links wherever you shared them: copy each tour’s new link from Share, and copy its embed code or download its QR code again. Links by project ID never change, so they’re the safest to print or embed.
